The following Control Systems families are included under the electrical ribbon. Click on the Control Systems devices to learn more about the family.

List of Electrical Control Families

Contactors are typically used in control circuits with larger currents. A contactor receives a signal from a relay and opens or closes a circuit to provide or remove power to a device. It is commonly used for turning on and off larger lighting systems and for starting motors. This family is a face hosted contactor. It is intended to be mounted on a wall surface or vertical surfaces and is imported with a default height of 48”. The family may be placed on a vertical face, face, or work plane under the modify > placement tab when inserting the family.

Relays are similar to contactors, except they are used in the lower current applications of control circuits. Relays can be used as a switch or to send a signal to a contactor. This family is a face hosted relay. It is intended to be mounted on a wall surface or vertical surfaces and is imported with a default height of 48”. The family may be placed on a vertical face, face, or work plane under the modify > placement tab when inserting the family.

A time switch is used to control power to a circuit based on a timer. This family is a face hosted time switch. It is intended to be mounted on a wall surface or vertical surfaces and is imported with a default height of 48”. There are two different types based on the orientation that the family is installed: upright or sideways.

This family is a face hosted photoelectric cell for daylight control of lighting systems. When the sensor in the photoelectric cell reads light levels below a setpoint, it will turn on the lights connected to its control circuit. The family is intended to be mounted on the ceiling using the reflected ceiling plan or a horizontal surface. When inserting the family, be sure to adjust the placement to “face” under the modify > placement tab. The default placement will be “vertical face,” which will appear on the wall, but not on the ceiling. If the device is mounted on the ceiling, it will take the elevation of the ceiling, otherwise the default vertical elevation is 10 ft.

This family is a face hosted photoelectric cell for daylight control of lighting systems, intended to be mounted on the wall. When inserting the family, the default placement will be “vertical face,” imported at 10 ft elevation. Be sure there is a wall to host to.

This family is a face hosted, surface, wall mounted two push button control device. The device is mounted on a vertical face at a default elevation of 4 ft.

This family is a face hosted, recessed, wall mounted emergency shutdown push button switch. The device is mounted on a vertical face at a default elevation of 4 ft. During an emergency, a user pushes this button to shutdown a system, such as a fuel pump or HVAC system.

This family is a face hosted, surface, wall mounted push button switch. The device is mounted on a vertical face at a default elevation of 4 ft.

This family is a face hosted, recessed, wall mounted push button switch. The device is mounted on a vertical face at a default elevation of 4 ft.
